Last week, the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) held its 22nd annual Mudfest, a competition which puts various utility vehicles and pickups to the test, both on and off the road. Despite entering the competition with the lowest ground clearance, the all-new 2016 Mazda CX-3 drove past the competition to earn the title of Northwest Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year in the Compact Utility segment.
“I think the Mazda CX-3 was the biggest surprise for our members,” said Ryan Douthit, event chair and producer of Driving Sports TV. “Not only did this subcompact crossover excel on our sealed-surface handling course, it also showed surprising capability on our rugged off-road circuit.”
The 2016 CX-3 is available with Mazda's full range of SKYACTIV technologies, including the i-ACTIV all-wheel drive system which is capable of instantly transferring power before the driver is able to feel a loss of traction. Stylish and versatile, the CX-3 carries a starting MSRP of just $19,960.
